Glam Media has overtaken iVillage as the No. 1 women's community destination, according to comScore's most recent Media Metrix Top 10 Women's Community Web Properties list.
Glam edged iVillage, taking in 17.3 million unique readers to the NBC property's 17.1 million in May's tally.
While Glam has touted comScore's numbers as proof that it now leads the women's portal market, iVillage President Deborah Fine told MediaPost that comparing the two destinations is like comparing "apples to cauliflower."
While both companies have different business models, Glam insists that because comScore classifies them in the same category, the May news is something of a coup.
Glam has come on strong of late, announcing a deal earlier this month with Google to broker ads on its fashion and lifestyle sites.
