Britney Spears recently appeared on NBC's show, "Dateline" and according to Hitwise data based on a U.S. sample of 10 million U.S. internet users, the search term "britney spears" has seen an increase in volume of searches by 117 percent (week ending 6/17/06 versus week ending 5/27/06). The most popular search terms containing the term "britney spears" for the week ending June 17, included "britney spears" garnering 33.8 percent of traffic, followed by "britney spears tattoos" with 3.04 percent of visits and "britney spears lyrics" with 1.27 percent. Rounding out the top-five searches included "britney spears pictures" and "britney spears interview" receiving 1.22 percent and .85 percent of visits respectively. The increased attention of late has also translated into a higher volume of searches, as the term "britney spears" received the largest amount of visits compared to "jessica simpson" and "christina aguilera" for the week ending June 17, 2006.
