If you are an auto account, having a motorcycle account at your agency, or an insurance account, or an energy account means that anyone working on those accounts will be able to ramp-up and understand your business more easily than someone from a completely unrelated field.
This applies when you are one of your agency's mid-sized clients much more than when you are one of the largest clients.

No, I'm not talking about direct competitors. I'm talking about related businesses.
If you are an auto account, having a motorcycle account at your agency, or an insurance account, or an energy account means that anyone working on those accounts will be able to ramp-up and understand your business more easily than someone from a completely unrelated field.
Often, when working on those accounts, ideas are generated that unfortunately would not work for their business but often times work for related businesses-- yours. Also, the conduit to those other businesses helps in your own business development efforts.
Without related businesses you end up not being able to benefit from an army of ideation on someone else's business.
