U.S. Lags the World in SMS Use
October 31, 2006

When measured against other countries, U.S. SMS use shows to be considerably lower than that of most.

From a study conducted by Yahoo!, OMD and the Henley Centre, one can see the ubiquity of text messaging around the world, with the notable exception of the United States, even in the face of other communications methods such as email, instant messaging and mobile voice. The study showed over 65 percent adoption among leading mobile markets, with most markets being above 80 percent.
