USAToday has relaunched its website with new features that will transform the newspaper site into a user-generated content-fueled social network, reports TechCrunch.
Added features include a user comment mechanism on each article, Digg-like article voting, citizen journalism photos and profile pages where registered users can aggregate their comments and recommend articles and other content.
According to TechCrunch, these additions show an intelligent commitment to building community at the site, but blogger Steve Rubel said he doesn't think the publication has yet gone far enough.
"The media need to bridge their communities to where we already spend our time," he wrote on his blog.
