Google Rethinks Homepage With iGoogle

Google has said it is in the process of reinventing its homepage, launching new features that allow users to publish their own content on a personalized page known as iGoogle.

While iGoogle will serve as a homepage for users, it also will act as a social networking platform from which users can share writings, photos and lists with their friends.

To further the enterprise, Google has launched Gadget Maker, a publishing tool aimed at users who do not know how to code.

There are currently seven homepage templates to choose from.

"I look at personalized search and I think it is one of the biggest advance we have had in the last couple of years," Marissa Mayer, Google's vice president of user experience, told BBC News.
