Perhaps going without a name would have been better for News Corp. and NBCU, which will launch the much-anticipated YouTube-killer Hulu.com this fall. Lulu.com, a site that lets members publish their own books, has sued Hulu, alleging that the site's name infringes on Lulu's trademark.
In the suit Lulu charges that the joint venture video site will create confusion in the market.
"We have spent more than five years and tens of millions of dollars in investment successfully building the Lulu brand and website into a place for millions of creators and consumers to publish, buy, sell and manage digital content," Lulu CEO Bob Young said in a statement.
NBCU and News Corp. announced the name in August, ending a summer of speculation.
