After 10 years, blogging pays

While few bloggers are making enough to quit their day jobs, a growing group have been able to monetize their blogs as a result of increased online ad dollars, according to a report in The International Herald Tribune.

Blogs, which recently marked a 10-year anniversary, have captured the attention of many web users, with the Pew Internet and American Life Project reporting that 57 million Americans consider themselves regular blog readers.

While ad dollars have long been a part of the blogosphere, the IHT story highlighted the growing trend of monetizing smaller blogs. According to information provided by BlogAds, an AdSense rival, sites with as few as 3,000 daily impressions are now being monetized at anywhere between $200 and $2,000 per month.
