Twitter's growth hit the skids in May

Say it isn't so. Twitter's insane growth has hit the brakes, Mashable reports, citing new data from Compete. Twitter's growth essentially flatlined in May with only a 1.47 percent increase in monthly visitors.

The total amount of minutes spent on Twitter is still a remarkable story though. Nielsen Online reported total minutes spent on the site rose by 3,712 percent from April 2008 to April 2009. During that same period, total minutes spent on Facebook increased 699 percent.
