NBC streamlines ad buys across platforms

NBC is working right out of the online advertising playbook. The company is implementing a technology from Microsoft to sell commercial time on its broadcast and cable TV networks, The Wall Street Journal reports. The sales process will be quite similar to online sales.

The move comes as many major networks work to overhaul the purchase of TV ad time and streamline buys across multiple platforms. The new platform will also let marketers buy ad time as they see fit on their own time, rather than through negotiations over the phone or email.
