Enlarged ad units begin rollout

Growing from an initial commitment of 24 sites, the Online Publishers Association has now shepherded the rollout of three new enlarged ad units on 37 of its members' sites.

In many cases, the new ads will be the only ad on the page due to size, Pam Horan, president of the OPA, told iMedia. Each of the 37 online publishers that committed to the new ad formats also had to redesign their websites to accommodate the new units.

Bank of America, Cleveland Clinic, Frito-Lay, and Mercedes-Benz are just some of the brands that began leveraging the new OPA ad units on member sites. Time will tell whether the new ad units will increase in popularity and help right the listing ship that is online advertising of late.
