Study: Recession has little effect on men's spending

The recession has many folks hunkering down in an attempt to make ends meet, but a new study indicates that most U.S. men do not feel they're at the point where they need to scrimp and save.

In a poll of 1,000 men online, 60 percent said they have made no cutbacks to their spending, while 71 percent have not changed how they save for the future, according to Break Media.

The good news for interactive marketers is that 88 percent of the 1,000 men polled said they spend the same or more time online, turning to video websites for entertainment. However, these spenders have slightly changed their shopping habits, often browsing multiple sites to make sure they're getting the best deal.

Overall, it's young men who are the least frightened by the economy. Only 29 percent of men 18 to 34 years old have cut back their spending, while 45 percent of males older than 35 have started pinching pennies.
