Twitter helps Bing add real-time search

Twitter's soaring popularity has left search engines racing to incorporate true real-time search results. Bing, Microsoft's brand new search product, is now taking a step toward that by including the latest tweets from popular Twitter users in its search results.

Al Gore, Ryan Seacrest, and tech-journalist Kara Swisher are among the 1,000 or so prominent users whose most recent Tweets will be offered in search results, according to a post on the company blog. Users can see the tweets by searching for a person's name in combination with the words "Twitter" or "tweets," or by searching for their Twitter username (for example, @karaswisher).

Bing isn't indexing all of Twitter just yet, and has no direct ties to the company for this feature, but its commitment to real-time search is apparent. All the other major search engines, including Google, index Twitter, but Bing is the first to offer this kind of Twitter search. Bing will roll out the feature over the next few days.
