Facebook tool helps applications find an audience

Applications are a big business on Facebook, so much so that the social network is launching a service to help advertisers match their applications with the correct audience.

Facebook noticed that some developers are already advertising their applications, so it has launched new targeting capabilities that let developers target ads to users based on both the applications they've already installed and whether or not they've used an application, according to a post on the Facebook Developers blog.

Developers will also be able to target ads to Facebook members who have already installed their applications, spurring the members to revisit the application.

The service ultimately helps developers put their applications in front of a wider audience, which is beneficial to both independent developers and marketers promoting branded applications.
