Hulu ads get a lot more relevant

In a major advancement for video marketing, behaviorally targeted ads are coming to Hulu through a partnership with AudienceScience.

This marks the first time a video website has employed behavioral targeting technology, according to a press release. In the past, video-sharing sites have lacked the scale necessary to employ targeting technologies. But Hulu, which drew 40 million visitors in April, is believed to have the audience necessary for behavioral campaigns.

Advertisers will be able to pay for behavioral ads alongside other types of targeting, according to a ClickZ report. Hulu, a joint venture between News Corp., NBC Universal, and new partner Disney, will sell the advertising independently, and is not part of AudienceScience's ad network.

THIS is the future of video advertising - probably ALL advertising: the power of the video experience delivered to people who want to see it. Amazing.
