As it loses more and more ground to Facebook, MySpace is being forced to unveil new features to attract an audience. This week, the News Corp.-owned social network will launch its own webmail, according to a paidContent report.
Both MySpace and Facebook let users send email-like messages that are accessible through the social networks, but MySpace's endeavor will give users their own "@myspace.com" email addresses. The move effectively puts MySpace into an entirely new medium beyond social networking -- MySpace already counts 70 million U.S. users, which would give it a booming email service in no time.
The initial roll out will be slow, according to paidContent, with MySpace email available to every user by the end of this year.
