NYTimes.com offers $5 CPM

The New York Times has launched a self-serve ad platform for marketers who wish to advertise on its hyper-local blogs and websites. To attract smaller businesses, the Times is offering $5 CPMs on the sites, according to a post on one of its blogs, The Local.

The Times launched its hyper-local blogs, which cover certain neighborhoods in New York and New Jersey, earlier this year. The blogs often feature citizen journalism and area happenings, making them a logical destination for ads from neighborhood businesses and restaurants.

Run-of-site CPMs on NYTimes.com usually cost $30, according to paidContent, and the self-service rates will rise to between $8 and $12 after the initial launch.
