The paid post has become a ubiquitous part of blogging culture, for better or for worse. And with hundreds of people trying to find a way to advertise on Twitter, it was only a matter of time before the pay-for-post model came to the microblogging service.
Izea, a company that helps marketers pay bloggers to write about their brands, is now bringing its model to Twitter, according to The New York Times' Bits blog. The company pays Twitter users for every sponsored tweet they send to their followers, and a user with 10,000 followers could make $25 to $35 per paid tweet.
The amount of money a user can make is based on a number of factors, including their reach, ratio of friends to followers, and number of followers. Izea also encourages transparency with its participants, asking them to include a "#ad" hash tag or the word "sponsored" in parenthesis, according to the Times.
