Facebook leading the web in time spent

When it comes to time spent on the internet, Facebook is king. Users spent an average of five hours and 12 minutes on the social network in July, according to Ad Age, putting it head and shoulders above its competitors.

Early last month, Facebook became the fourth largest website in the world in terms of unique monthly visitors. However, it blows all the others out of the water when it comes to time spent on the website. Users on second place Yahoo averaged three hours and 23 minutes, while AOL and Fox Interactive (which includes MySpace) followed with the average time spent somewhere in the two-and-a-half hour range.

But Facebook still isn't the biggest time-waster on the web. While the social network leads the top 20 largest sites in time spent, it actually places eighth overall, trailing several gaming websites.
