Still looking for a way to distinguish itself in the search game, Yahoo is rumored to be testing several real-time search partners, including Colorado-based OneRiot, according to a Reuters report.
Though Yahoo representatives aren't talking about any potential deals yet, the company has recently released a statement that it was testing a new "search shortcut", which would include real-time results at the top of search results pages. "This is a test designed to discover if showing such content is useful to people," said the company.
Up to now, the ability to search streams from real-time messaging services, such as Twitter, has been somewhat elusive. Yet, it's a potentially lucrative search proposition, given that microblogging can often break news faster than websites can.
