One of the most interesting things about Twitter's user base is that it tends to skew toward an older crowd, with adults using the service far more often than teenagers. It makes sense then that Twitter has teamed up with another social media darling of the established, career-minded adult set: LinkedIn.
The two companies announced a partnership that lets users link their accounts on both services so they can both tweet their LinkedIn status updates and have their tweets sent to their LinkedIn connections, according to LinkedIn.
Twitter is rapidly becoming a crucial part of promoting businesses online, and Twitter is focused on its image as a business utility. In a video announcement, LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman said the partnership is designed to help users keep their professional contacts updated while giving them an easy way to ask for help as well.
