After months of speculation and testing, Google is ready to unveil its new Caffeine search index.
The search giant said it will activate Caffeine "soon," beginning with one data center, the company said. The full update will go live after the holidays, according to Search Engine Land.
Google solicited developer and webmaster feedback on Caffeine throughout the summer, but has officially ended the timeframe for feedback. However, the company is launching Caffeine slowly so that it can pinpoint potential problems without wreaking havoc on website indexing during the holiday retail season.
Although the search giant updates its engine constantly, Caffeine represents the first major update to its indexing system since 2006, according to CNET. For tips on how webmasters and SEOs can prepare for the coming update, read iMedia's feature, "How to prepare for Google's updated algorithm."
