Bing continues climb while Yahoo suffers

It's still too soon to label Bing a Google killer, but Microsoft's latest foray into search has done something remarkable -- it has increased its share of the search market every month since its launch, coming close to cracking 10 percent of the U.S. market.

Microsoft websites accounted for 9.9 percent of all searches in October, a 0.5 percent increase from the month before, according to comScore data. But the reason it's still too soon to hand Google's crown to Bing is that Google experienced equal growth during the month, giving it an astonishing 65.4 percent of the market,CNET reports.

While Google and Bing grow, Yahoo, the sagging portal caught in the middle of this search war, continued to lose customers. Yahoo's share of the search market fell in October, bringing it down to an even 18 percent.

Hmmmmmm, do you think the fact that if you mis-type a URL in Internet Explorer it automatically defaults Bing has anything to do with this, rather than the quality of their search results?

A very shady maneuver by Microsoft, and a very bad move for the brand that is trying to position itself with integrity as a leader in online search.

Next time - Think.
