Yahoo turns to Facebook for reputation boost

If we've learned anything from Yahoo's current ad blitz, it's that the portal is banking its big comeback on being more social. One way Yahoo is doing that is through an expansive partnership with a leader in social media: Facebook.

The two companies announced this week that they will allow users to combine activity streams from each network, The New York Times reports. This will allow Yahoo users to keep tabs on their Facebook friends as they browse Yahoo sites, while simultaneously letting users share their Yahoo activities with friends on Facebook.

The deal between the two companies will last five years, and there is no monetary aspect to the deal. Instead, both companies hope to benefit from sharing their audiences and possible collaborations in the future, which could include email integration or data sharing, according to the Times.
