AKQA lands lead agency role for Autodesk

Earlier this week, Forrester Research predicted that interactive agencies would soon assert themselves and take on greater responsibilities from clients. Mere days after Forrester issued that prediction, AKQA proved it correct by becoming Autodesk's lead agency.

AKQA was chosen out of a field that included Euro RSCG, Tribal DDB, and WongDoody to serve as the brand's global lead agency, handling both digital and traditional media, Adweek reports. Autodesk, a design software maker, is a fairly small advertiser -- it spent less than $1 million last year on measured media, but that figure doesn't include interactive. However, the company spent $1 million on B2B advertising in 2008.

Autodesk chose AKQA because of its strong digital background. The shop also serves as the lead agency for retailer Claire's.
