As the recession begins to wane and ad budgets slowly start to increase, social media is expected to be one of the biggest beneficiaries, according to MarketingSherpa.
Researchers from the company found that nearly all industries will increase budgets for social media marketing in the new year, sometimes at the expense of other mediums, including print, MediaPost reports. One of the biggest players is retail, where 79 percent of marketers plan on increasing their social media marketing.
A large chunk of social media budget -- 60 percent -- will go toward labor, paying the salaries of bloggers and staffers who generate content. Agencies can expect to share in the increased budgets as well, as 20 percent of social media budget will go to outside organizations.
