Kia steers toward new digital formats

Kia is entering a new frontier of digital advertising, thanks to a partnership with Zinio, a company that produces digital editions of magazines for desktop computers and the iPhone.

Ads for the Kia Sorento will be featured in the digital editions of 45 magazines, Mediaweek reports. The deal launches Zinio's Publisher Advertising Network.

Magazines have been braving the realm of PCs and e-readers as subscribers are shying away from print, but they have not been able to attract similar audiences online. Zinio says it is pricing the ads in accordance with confirmed viewership, and that the company is splitting the revenue with publishers 50-50 in most cases.

Titles such as Car and Driver, Esquire, and Yoga Journal will feature the ads in their digital editions. They are slated to run in March and April.
