Rumor: Apple will produce its own HDTV

If you haven't noticed, everyone is in the TV game lately. From devices and hardware (Apple, Google, Intel) to distributors (Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, Walmart) to creators (Disney, Maker Studios, network digital divisions) the new digital television experience is siphoning major dollars away from cable company monopolies. No wonder Apple wants a bigger piece of the, err, pie.

Will Apple be releasing its own television set? Rumors are swirling that Apple's Chinese manufacturing partner, Foxconn, is in the "trial production stage" of producing a new Apple HDTV. According to Chinese news sources, Foxconn's CEO initially confirmed the project, though he later denied it.

The Apple HDTV television is expected to resemble an Apple monitor ("only much larger," an anonymous source told "Cult of Mac"), include voice controls powered by Siri, an iSight camera for FaceTime video calling, and possible gesture controls. While Fanboys are hoping to see the Apple HDTV this year, reports say it's more likely the new TV would hit the market in 2014.

Likeliness: 50 percent
