What are your monthly impressions?
We served 4.6 billion impressions in December.
How many unique visitors are there within your network in a given month?
Per comScore Media Metrix in December, 62.5 million unique visitors (36.7 percent reach, U.S.)
How many sites are in your network?
We currently represent 1922 websites.
What kind of targeting do you provide? How is this targeting achieved?
Targeting includes:
- Content/Context: i.e the right display ad in the right website environment. Achieved as a result of specializing in representing numerous, single-topic websites that we can bundle into any variety of packages for advertisers.
- Audience Demographic: BURST! maintains top line audience demographics on each website it represents captured through opt-in surveys on these sites. To date, we have completed in excess of 10 million surveys across the network. This enables BURST! to target (or avoid) audience constituencies according to demographics, and apart from content, such as women, or teens. We report a number of these demographic channels to comScore Media Metrix for measurement at the syndicated level.
- Geography: Advertising can be targeted by Country, Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), and Designated Marketing Area (DMS). Geographic targeting is enabled by Akamai which maintains an enormous distributed market of thousands of servers in over 60 countries. Akamai compares incoming IP information to ISP locations in its database and delivers the appropriate, geotargeted ad.
- Day part: ability to serve advertising according to time of day, either server time (our servers) or client time. Akamai enables our ability to support client time targeting by, again, matching ISPs to time zones.
- Network Connection Speed: Akamai servers help us establish the connection speed and serve accordingly (rich media if the speed is high, for instance).
- Browser: browser-type is featured within the standard back and forth ad serving instructions. We can serve/restrict ads accordingly.
Do you accept all forms of rich media? How about video?
Yes, we accept all including video. Pre-roll video is the only tricky thing for us right now because we have no solution for determining, on the fly as a third party server, that such-and-such creative unit has to run first in a video position. That constraint aside, we handle it all just fine.
What is a distinguishing feature of your network? Do you cater to a particular kind of audience or site?
BURST! Network is distinguished from other ad networks primarily by its focus on brand advertising sales. We aim to connect the world's major marketers with the inherent value proposition of internet media to consumers: relevance. We support ourselves and our customers in this effort by representing content rich, single topic websites and by providing a fully transparent sales process that assures marketers, agencies and publishers they can always know which ads are appearing where, and at what price. We provide support for those assurances as the only ad network, and one of the few internet media sales companies, that is audited and system certified, in compliance with industry guidelines, by BPA Worldwide (now for six years in a row).
Is there anything else you'd like to say about the network or about the online advertising industry in general (prognosis, needs for change, et cetera)?
Nah.
