
Hitwise tracks volume of searches on immigration-related websites.
On May 1, 2006, hundreds of thousands of immigrants and supporters took to the streets in cities across the U.S. to march in support of immigration rights. Hitwise has taken a closer look at internet searches for the term "immigration," which has more than doubled between the week ending March 11, 2006 and the week ending April 29, 2006, as represented in the chart below. Hitwise data also shows the top websites that received traffic from the term "immigration" for the week ending April 22, 2006. The top website was UCIS.gov (The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration website) capturing 13 percent of visits from the term, followed by several news websites that included News.Google.com, NPR.org and News.Yahoo.com.
