This campaign is an example of a “Gateway”
Site Pass. Users encounter the redirect page on their
way to Salon.com and it remains in place until users take
action by clicking to join Salon Premium or to “click
and watch to enter Salon.” Watching the ad allowed
users to gain access to Salon content free of charge,
courtesy of an advertiser/sponsor. The American Express
Tribeca Gateway Site Pass was an appealing and memorable
use of interactive video. The creative framing of the
video reinforced the American Express branding while keeping
the focus on the unique Tribeca Film Festival initiative.
