The night before Jennifer Prince's first day on the job at Twitter, she had a personal revelation about the power of her new employer's platform. "As Variety broke the news that I was joining the Twitter team, all other news outlets followed, and I couldn't believe how much press and exposure I received globally," she said.

Part of the buzz around Prince's August hire at Twitter had to do with the fact that it's always fun to run headlines referring to companies that "poach" high-level Google employees. But a lot of it had to do with the implications of Prince's new role – as Twitter's first-ever director of entertainment. In this role, Prince is tasked with developing and pitching new ways that movie and TV marketers can use the social giant's platform. As noted by Variety, Prince's hiring marks the first time Twitter is targeting an industry vertical specifically.

Formerly head of media and entertainment ad sales at Google, Prince notes that the decision to leave her team there wasn't easy. "As a busy mom of three little girls age five and under, I needed a push to start in a new role that would take me away from my family," she says. "That push was simply a feeling – and deep down, I knew it was the right decision for me. Fortunately, I have been so fulfilled at Twitter since joining, and I quickly realized and justified my new career path."

Prince joined the world of advertising in 1994. After a few years at TBWA Chiat Day and Ziff-Davis in traditional media, her focus shifted to digital in 1997. As a top media professional at Dow Jones, Red Herring, and American Greetings, in addition to two content syndication start-ups, Prince continuously built digital media partnerships with Fortune 500 brands. In 2007, she started with Demand Media as SVP, building out its ad sales division. She stayed with Demand Media through the company's IPO.

Prince is active with the board of ThinkLA and City of Hope's media and entertainment non-profit organization. She is also a monetization advisor to Samesurf.
