As General Manger of Microsoft’s Emerging Media Sales and U.S. Agency Relations, Mr. Sampson is responsible for defining go-to-market strategies as well as overseeing sales teams that drive results across the important new media offerings in gaming, mobile, video and (advanced) television. Jay also fields a team of senior consultants assigned to the US divisions of the world’s six major agency holding companies.
Within Jay’s Emerging Media responsibilities, he oversees the go-to-market of advertising opportunities with Xbox Live and MSN (casual) Games, the Microsoft Mobile Media Network and all online and advanced television video business.
A seasoned executive with nearly 20 years of media sales experience, Mr. Sampson joined Microsoft Corporation in 1997 as one the first media sales executives for the company. Since joining, Jay has held a number of positions within in the organization including the development of the vertical sales approach by starting the MSN® Financial Services sales, ran Western U.S. sales and built a global sales force associated to Microsoft’s gaming businesses.
A frequent evangelist for new media, Mr. Sampson works closely with Microsoft product groups like Xbox Live, Microsoft Mobile Media and Admira (advanced television) to develop advertising opportunities and solutions to meet the needs of Fortune 500 marketers and their associated agencies.
Prior to Microsoft, Jay worked in New York City for Dow Jones & Company in a number of capacities and was on the forefront of their efforts to launch an online presence for their brands the Wall Street Journal and Barron’s Online.
Mr. Sampson sits on several civic and industry boards as well as in an advisory role for ZS Associates, a global management consulting firm specializing in sales and marketing consulting, capability building, and outsourcing.
