Ben is GM - Direct and Partnerships at nib New Zealand, the country’s second largest private health insurer. He is responsible for the ongoing and profitable growth of private health insurance sales, mostly via digital channels. It’s an exciting role that sees him working on growing not only the category, but nib’s share of it, too. Ben leads a passionate team focused on the attraction, acquisition and retention of nib’s direct customers as well as being the executive accountable for consumer marketing.
Ben led the design and build of nib’s AI chatbot Frankie, the introduction of end to end Chinese language sales and service and a ground-up overhaul of nib’s Direct to Consumer products, CX, sales channels and marketing strategy.
Ben’s career started in ad agencies both in London and later Auckland, and then moved into client-side marketing roles such as Head of Retail Marketing at ASB. Ben then decided to broaden his commercial experience by moving into general management as he ran a large operational division at Sovereign Assurance and now runs the Direct to Consumer channel at nib. Ben is also lucky enough to manage nib’s white label relationships with AA Health and Done Health Covered (a Fairfax Media brand).
