John Leeman is the Managing Director, Global Account Lead at Mindshare on American Express.  He and his team are the leaders of communications planning, media planning, and buying for all AmEx products and brands in the US and around the World.

 

Before Mindshare John was a leader on the Procter & Gamble Communications Planning team at Carat/NY where he supervised P&G’s largest global brand group Pampers.  For four years John's team became vital partners to the Pampers clients by:

·         Developing creative new ways to target and engage consumers

·         Stepping up to the challenge set out by client Jodi Allen to lead the way to holistic plans that dramatically increased digital investment

·         Originating Paid, Owned, and Earned media programs that maximize marketing investment and ROI and sales growth

 

Prior to his work at Carat, John developed a solid foundation in Global brand strategy and creative campaign development on the client side and over a career in account management within advertising, digital, and integrated digital/shopper/direct marketing agencies.  He has held leadership account management positions in New York, Shanghai, and San Francisco for clients General Mills, AT&T, J&J, Anheuser-Busch, Microsoft. 

 

John’s teams provide a holistic, media-agnostic perspective with a dual focus on both the delivery vehicles and the strategic and creative power of the marketing stimuli.  This is what enables them to develop powerful communications plans that engage and align with the changing needs and habits of consumers in a highly dynamic communications marketplace.  It also enables his teams to work more collaboratively to bring out the best in the many different agencies that make up the usual best-of-breed roster of agencies servicing Global brands today. 

 

John is originally from Kansas City, is an enthusiastic (if not talented) golfer and Jayhawks basketball fan, and lives in New York City’s financial district with his wife Grace.
