Amit Phansalkar is chief data scientist at MassMutual Financial Group, leading research and development, and innovation for the global organization. Phansalkar's particular focus is using disparate data sources and science to build new products and strategies to reach customers and prospects. Prior to MassMutual, Phansalkar served as the global head of data sciences and advanced analytics at Millward Brown Digital, where he created brand strategy and advertising targeting and measurement solutions utilizing daily online data on over 2 million consumers.
Prior to his role at Millward Brown Digital, he was a co-founder and VP Analytics at Cognika, a technology start-up in the Boston area that built smart analytics applications using a combination of structured and unstructured data. Phansalkar started his career in systems biology, leading the development of protein interaction models in the entire human proteome.
Phansalkar parlays his 15-plus years in data strategy to education and collaboration pursuits, including the founding of a unique data salon and executive directorship at MIT data science labs that helps provide data science capabilities to nonprofits and smaller start-ups in non-data domain that can avail themselves of these capabilities.
