Kristi Karens joined Mondelez International in July 2012 as director of media, consumer engagement, and agency partnerships.

Karens believes passionately in the perfect marriage of creative, media, and technology to drive the most powerful solutions, meaning, and engagement for brands, and is excited to bring her 20-plus years of agency experience to this new role.

 As director of media and consumer engagement, Karens has been instrumental in the role out of the global Mondelez partnership deals with Facebook, Google, and Twitter across North America, including Mondelez' first geo-targeting initiative with Twitter and Oreo. These partnerships reflect the company's goal to grow mobile and digital from about a quarter of its media budget to more than half of all spending by 2016.


Prior to joining Mondelez International, Karens worked in many of North America's leading advertising agencies, including BBDO, J.W.T, Leo Burnett, and Ogilvy. She has been responsible for brand-building and award-winning campaigns for many top-tier packaged goods companies, including Warner-Lambert, Nintendo, Unilever, Wrigley, Cadbury, Kraft, and Post. Karens is also a member of the global Mondelez media team under the leadership of Bonin Bough.


Karens is proud to be both a "Kiwi" and a Canadian citizen. She lives in Toronto with her husband and two boys. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family at her cottage and traveling, golfing, and skiing as often as she can.
