Alyssa Schaefer assumed the role of VP, Global Prospect Marketing within American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) in June of 2014. At GBT, Alyssa is responsible for brand management, lead generation, digital marketing and value proposition in order to increase awareness and drive sales results.
Schaefer has been with American Express for 13 years in a range of strategy, marketing, product development and business development roles across the Consumer, OPEN and Corporate Payments businesses. She began her career at American Express in the Consumer Card division within the Loyalty & Rewards Marketing group in 2001. In 2003, she moved to Consumer Card Acquisition, where she held a number of positions with increasing responsibility in order to expand the American Express customer base through direct marketing initiatives. In 2006, Schaefer joined OPEN, the division dedicated to small businesses, where she developed partnerships and launched products to increase OPEN’s offering. In 2012, She was promoted to Vice President of Business Planning for Global Commercial Services. In this role, she reported to the President of the division and led investment prioritization and strategic growth initiatives.
Schaefer has a Bachelors of Administration from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and an MBA from Columbia University. She lives in New Jersey with her husband and is an amateur chef and fitness enthusiast.
