Sergio Barrientos built his career helping major brands connect with the Hispanic and Latin American markets. After 15 years on the agency side, he founded Eclipse Digital, a consultancy that works with brands, agencies, and media properties to find customized solutions for engaging with consumers.
In the last few years, Barrientos has helped top brands build unique bonds with their audiences. For example, he worked for a top Caribbean beer brand to penetrate the U.S. market by cultivating travelers and facilitating a way for those who discovered the beer while on vacation to continue the discussion online when they return home. He has also helped Fortune 500 companies from diverse industries team up to reach soccer fans during the Copa America soccer tournament by leveraging the publisher's content and pairing it with branded interactive videos, blogs, and contests.
Prior to founding Eclipse, Barrientos founded Latin3, a leading U.S. Hispanic/Latin American interactive agency. Over the years, Barrientos has worked for numerous A-list brands, including Dell, Google, Microsoft, Cisco, Nextel, Pepsi, Reebok, Sony, TACA, Visa, and Xerox, to name a few.
Barrientos is the recipient of numerous awards including the Latino Marketing Awards, Web Awards, iNovas, PMA's, and Reggies. Barrientos and his team have also made the finals at Cannes Cyberlions and FIAP.
Fun fact: Barrientos' creative team nicknamed him "Xensei" or the "master." As he explains, "My team gave me the name a few years ago and it stuck. Today, many people assume that it is because I am this wise veteran, teaching my team all that I know. However, it started a few years ago when I was conducting creative reviews and telling the team how the clients were going to react to our work. After correctly predicting their reactions a number of times, the team said I had a special sensitivity to understand the market, the audiences and the brands and find engagement opportunities among them, so they started referring to me as Xensei."
He tweets at @Xensei.
