Lockitron works by sending a signal from your phone through our servers to a small device that plugs into your internet router. This in turn talks to your door telling it to lock or unlock. Lockitron is compatible with the most popular lock styles. For $295 and no monthly fees you can order a Lockitron deadbolt kit that can be installed in about 15 minutes.
Any internet enabled smartphone can use Lockitron. For a small monthly fee, Lockitron owners can enable text-message access which turns any mobile phone into a virtual key. The upcoming Lockitron Android app will feature NFC capabilities allowing users to unlock or lock their door just by swiping it in front of a Lockitron NFC tag.
