News Corp.'s MySpace.com is expanding its Fox on Demand streaming initiative with more Fox episodes on the popular social networking website. Wal-Mart announced it will be closing down its MySpace clone "The Hub."
The MySpace shows are free and ad-supported on MySpace. Sponsors include Burger King and Toyota.
Fox also announced that it will run on-air promotions to tie in the online streaming shows during the Major League Baseball playoffs this month.
The shows include "Bones," "Prison Break," "Standoff," "Vanished," "Talk Show With Spike Feresten," "'Til Death," "The Loop" and "Justice." The service will also include previously aired episodes of those shows.
Fox says that more episodes will be added this month and in November.
Wal-Mart attempted to tap into the social networking craze when it launched "The Hub" in July. Visitors complained that many of the user comments were promoting Wal-Mart products and felt the comments were placed by advertisers, PC Magazine reported.
