Howard Stern Drives Sirius Web Traffic

Web traffic soared at Sirius Satellite Radio after the company offered a two-day trail (from Oct. 25 to Oct. 26) to let listeners sample Sirius's programming, reported AdAge.com.

Hitwise reported that traffic to the Sirius.com website on Oct. 25 was up 91 percent compared to the week before and up 201 percent versus the same day a year ago.

A spokesman for Sirius told AdAge.com, "The response to the free trial of Sirius Internet Radio was beyond company expectations. We received responses from people in virtually every major country around the world who were accessing Howard Stern and our more than 75 channels of programming online."

Last year Howard Stern made the jump from terrestrial radio to satellite. Read eMarketer's Krikor Daglian's "Satellite Radio: The Howard Stern Factor."
