MySpace Launches Cingular Partnership

News Corp.'s MySpace.com announced an exclusive partnership to offer MySpace functionality to all Cingular mobile phone subscribers.

The deal enables MySpace/Cingular consumers the ability to edit their profiles, view and add friends, post photos and blogs and receive MySpace messages.

Currently the service is ad-free.

"MySpace.com has a passionate community of users, many of whom use our site as their primary means of staying in touch with family and friends," says Chris DeWolfe, CEO, MySpace. "We are thrilled to team with Cingular to enable their mobile users to experience the richest MySpace Mobile offering to date."

In recent months social media companies have been extending their reach through mobile platforms.

In November, MySpace.com rival YouTube.com announced a mobile video content deal with Verizon Wireless' Vcast service.
