AOL Names Ted Cahall Head of Platforms

AOL has hired internet veteran Ted Cahall to lead its platforms business unit as executive vice president.

Cahall will oversee AOL Search, ecommerce, publishing platform and tools and the company's MapQuest service.

Prior to joining AOL, Cahall was EVP and COO of Classmates.com, where he directed operations at Classmates.com, a community-based networking company. He was also executive vice president of the United Online Web Services division, overseeing the company's various web-hosting brands, including Freeservers.com and photo sharing service PhotoSite.

"We are delighted to have a seasoned business and technology executive on board to manage these important AOL platforms," says AOL President and COO Ron Grant. "Ted has a wealth of experience that will help us continue to improve our search, ecommerce and local offerings, extend our lead in online mapping services, and put real-time information in the hands of end users moments after it is published."
