The Death of a Mass Media Marketer

The demise of mass media marketing is near, according to former WB CEO Jordan Levin, who told an entertainment industry forum that traditional media was "vanishing."

"New media companies are listening to their employees, who are much closer to their customers. Traditional media companies are still listening to their financial people," Levin told the gathering at the Museum of Television & Radio in Beverly Hills, Calif. "How can creative talent thrive in an environment that is not betting on the new and different but desperately trying to cling to old business models?"

Levin, who now owns Generate, a new media-focused production company, said his company's goal is to produce content for a range of platforms.

According to a Daily Variety story, Generate has already produced some internet-exclusive content for MTV in addition to its traditional TV pilots.
