Mobile ad network AdMob has teamed with Andy Moore of Web2Txt to launch a free mobile plug-in for blogging tool WordPress. The plug-in, announced Wednesday at ad:tech San Francisco, enables users to create mobile-friendly WordPress blog content easily. The plug-in is also designed to allow WordPress users to monetize their content from advertising revenue by integrating AdMob code for bloggers who want to include ads in their posts.
"AdMob is proud to see the developer community leveraging the AdMob Marketplace to create new ways for content owners to monetize their traffic," said Omar Hamoui, AdMob founder and CEO. "This plug-in marries the power of WordPress tools and the AdMob network to enable leading bloggers to generate income in a turnkey fashion."
Currently, more than 150 WordPress bloggers have been beta-testing the new plug-in, which extends the reach of content to mobile phones. It also provides configuration of pages leveraging .mobi and W3C standards and automatic insertion of AdMob ads at the option of the blog owner.
"We aim to reduce the entry level to mobile publishing by making it easy for WordPress users to go mobile and reap the rewards of AdMob's advertising in just a few clicks," said Andy Moore, director, Web2Txt . "This plug-in lets bloggers adhere to standards without having extra knowledge or getting their hands dirty in any code."
With the WordPress plug-in bloggers can choose to turn on advertising and manage the ads that run on their blog, get real-time reports on clickthrough statistics, traffic and earnings, as well as publish posts and upload files from their phone
The test tool is available to all WordPress users at www.andymoore.info/wordpress-mobile-plugin/.
