FCC's OK Clears Way for iPhone in June
The Federal Communications Commission has approved Apple's iPhone, lifting any regulatory roadblocks for an anticipated late June release of the combination phone and music player.
Materials filed with the FCC confirm at least some of the iPhone's features, which include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The phone will operate in the 1900MHz and 850 MHz frequency bands. According to a report in The Washington Post, the iPhone won't be able to roam in Europe.
Apple needed FCC approval to sell the iPhone because it operates on public airwaves.
