Google Tests AdSense for Video

In its AdSense blog, officials at Google said the company had begun testing streaming video ads inside video content.

"We're launching a pilot with a small group of publishers to test streaming video ads in their online video content," the blog read. "With this pilot, publishers control when the ads play in their videos and choose which videos get the ads."

The test expands Google's popular AdSense program to in-stream video, ultimately giving smaller publishers an affordable means of monetizing video content, and smaller advertisers a new platform from which to broadcast their commercials online.

Last week, Google made big news of its universal search announcement, but the company opted to keep the AdSense video program relatively quiet, leaking the news on its blog in favor of a full-blown announcement.
