HBO, which recently aired the last episode of its "Sopranos" franchise without finding a clear successor, could also face a digital debacle, as three top executives left the company following a consolidation of the cable giant once known as the only player in subscription TV.
A report from paidContent.org confirmed that HBO has closed its digital office in Los Angeles with the departures of Jim Moloshok, who ran digital for HBO, and John Penney and Carmi Zlotnik.
Moloshok came to HBO from Yahoo!, but despite his pedigree, the cable channel never took full advantage of digital, preferring to use the medium to promote its content, but shying away from streaming any of its series online.
Future HBO digital initiatives will likely be run out of the company's New York offices.
