Google Buys Phone Firm
Google's latest acquisition could be a real crowd pleaser if the search giant is able to make GrandCentral Communications deliver on its promise to allow people to manage all of their phone lines and voicemail accounts online using a single application.
GrandCentral was founded by Craig Walker and Vincent Pacquet, who worked for Dialpad Communications, a similar firm purchased by Yahoo! in 2005.
"You get a single phone number that forwards to all of your phones, giving you one number for life," Walker and Paquet said in a statement on GrandCentral.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
